Rhone, France......
Its recent elevation to cru status (alongside Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas) has “propelled Rasteau reds into the big leagues,” says Decanter. This tiny corner of France’s southern Rhône, perched on a small, south-facing hill, is home to full-flavored, Grenache-heavy reds.
Domaine Martin is a boutique, family-owned operation (since 1905!), now run by fifth-generation brothers David and Eric Martin. Their old vines yield only a small amount of grapes, a classic Rhône blend of Grenache (65%), Syrah (25%), and Mourvèdre (15%). After eight months’ barrel aging, Domain Martin brims with spicy, dark-berry flavors and will delight alongside roasted meats, hearty stews, and more.
Wine Enthusiast - 90 points
"Bursts of blueberry and black plum are accented by subtle notes of wild mint and crushed earth in this rich, brawny red. It's a juicy, intensely primary wine packed with loads of black-fruit flavor, but an edge of earthiness lends subtlety too. Very ripe, finely edged tannins linger on the finish. Enjoy now–2022."
