Pierre Desvignes has been making wine at his family's domaine since 1986 when he became the 4th generation in his family to run the business.
Past generations of the Desvignes clan ventured off from Chablis to make wine in far off places such as Beaujolais and even the Rhone.
Pierre's side of the family has always been, and if you ask Pierre, always will remain in Chablis. The domaine is large by Chablisien standards in that Pierre owns 60 hectares of vines. He sells a lot of fruit every year to local winemakers but keeps the best Chardonnay for his own estate Chablis. Everything in the winery is geared towards traditional winemaking.
Since there are no Grand Cru bottlings the Desvignes family sees no need to bring oak into the winery. The Chablis AC comes from select plots with a favorable S,SE exposure and a mild hillside grade where the soils are particularly rich in Kimmeridgian clay.
